Listen Up to This One's For Him: A Tribute to Guy Clark!
Available December 6, This One's For Him: A Tribute to Guy Clark (Icehouse Music) is a loving tribute celebrating Clark’s 70th birthday.  The double CD  includes 30 tracks by 33 Americana artists who are friends and colleagues of Clark or who have been influenced by his remarkable compositions including Rodney Crowell, Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Shawn Colvin, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, James McMurtry, Emmylou Harris & John Prine, Patty Griffin, Ron Sexsmith, Rosanne Cash, Steve Earle, Vince Gill, Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen, and more.  Guy Clark’s poetry resonates deeply with his fellow songwriters.

“Guy’s songs are literature,” says Lyle Lovett, among the venerable artists who eagerly gathered for This One’s For Him: A Tribute to Guy Clark. “The first time I heard Guy Clark, I thought it made everything I’d heard up to that point something other than a song. His ability to translate the emotional into the written word is extraordinary.”  Produced by GRAMMY-winning Tamara Saviano and frequent Clark co-writer, Shawn Camp, CLICK HERE to preorder your copy today (just in time for the holidays!)

Matt The Electrician Featured in Documentary
In May of 2010, Matt The Electrician joined 11 other songwriters from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, the Faroe Islands and Austin, Texas, at a 16th century castle in Denmark for three days of intensive co-writing. They were paired up in to groups of two's and three's and were given three hours to write and record a new song. In this short time, the songwriters wrote 21 songs to be performed at SPOT music festival in Aarhus, Denmark. Somehow the perfect combination of culture, language, time, place and personalities created an experience that changed these musician's lives forever.  Holly Bronko captures it all on film, in the documentary, "All I Know," The Castle Sessions, which was recently featured in the Austin Film Festival.  CLICK HERE for the trailer.

HalleyAnna Buzz
HalleyAnna's The Country is receiving international attention - Already #15 on the Roots Music Report, check out what folks are saying about this incredible debut:

"HalleyAnna is a unique, refreshing voice and sounds like nobody else; however, if I had to make comparisons, I'd say that the knockout country soul of "So Heavy" (my favorite track) is reminiscent of Tift Merritt's best record, "Tambourine"  - Warren Catlett, Radio Free Americana

"Hearing HalleyAnna always makes me happy. she's like sunshine in a beautiful package. every song she writes or sings is great, and her voice really, really sends me, and reminds me of so many of the great records i loved growing up." - Walt Wilkins, Songwriter

"HalleyAnna, is country with a distinctive Texas independent attitude."  - Jim Beal Jr., Hector Saldaña and John Goodspeed

"HalleyAnna is not another Taylor Swift wanna be. With her powerful voice and emotional songs, it's more like Tracy Chapman meets Dolly Parton...yea, hard to imagine, so you've got to buy the CD and take a listen. But don't miss seeing her live for the full experience!"  - Anne Walls, Austinsongz

Stay Tuned for Charlie Shafter
Charlie Shafter brings a refreshing combination of old school rock and country blended seamlessly with a modern indie pop vibe, an Alternative Americana if you will.  With early influences such as The Band, Tom Waits and Leon Russell it’s no wonder he is writing music with a wisdom beyond his years.  Music veteran Ray Wylie Hubbard, not one to be easily impressed, signed on to produce Shafter’s upcoming self titled record due to his skilled songwriting, which Hubbard describes as “uncomplicated, yet complex, profound and always with a purpose.”  Whether you catch him playing an acoustic set or with his full band his engaging sound will make a believer out of you too.  Stay tuned for his debut release in early 2012!

Listen Up to Danny Barnes!
November 8th will mark the release of Rocket, the follow-up album to the critically acclaimed Pizza Box, by banjo pioneer and visionary, Danny Barnes.

Danny Barnes has come to redefine the banjo’s perceived image in an eclectic career for which genre definitions have merely been a polite suggestion. From his early days as the driving force behind the impressive Austin-based Bad Livers (a band of pioneering Americana missionaries), through a prolific solo career (which marked the development of his trademark 'folkTronics' project, a startling approach that incorporates digital technology and various effects pedals to stretch the tonal range of the instrument), Barnes has always listened to his proudly offbeat inner voice.

On Rocket, Barnes continues to push the envelope and reinvent the wheel with the creation of the 'Barnjo'; a prototype of a hard body electric banjo with pickups that allow him to showcase his love for rock and roll, and his passion for melding genres together in a style that is quite frankly, all of his own making.

“The label ‘true original’ gets bandied about too often these days, but Danny Barnes deserves it.” – PASTE MAGAZINE

“An eclecticism that’s nothing less than endearing and simultaneously visionary.” – ALL MUSIC GUIDE

“One of the most wildly inventive musicians on the planet” – AUSTIN AMERICAN STATESMAN

Lauren Shera Joins Communion Tour This Fall
Communion is the brainchild of Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett, his close ally, Kevin Jones, and renowned producer Ian Grimble. Born out of a London basement bar in 2006, Communion very quickly became the home to some of the U.K.’s most accomplished and praised young musicians, as well as the go-to team for promoting and encouraging fresh, emerging talent in London and beyond.  Built solely on a freedom of expression, an ear for a tune and a celebration of exactly what the live music experience should be all about, Communion and its broad-minded, ever-evolving family have made light work of discovering and nurturing what MOJO calls a “new generation of songwriter.” The debut Communion North American Tour, in association with Daytrotter, will kick off on October 18 across nineteen dates in North America. The tour will feature London’s Matthew & The Atlas (longstanding members of the Communion family and regular Mumford & Sons tour buddies), Ohio born and Grammy-nominated The David Mayfield Parade and our own up-and-coming folk artist, Lauren Shera. Travels With Charlie Tour
On January 1st, 2010, Charlie Faye pulled out of her hometown of Austin, Texas, to embark on a modern bohemian adventure. In 10 months, Charlie made her home in 10 different towns; starting a new band in each town, performing live and recording a new song.  Charlie's tour was more like John Steinbeck's famous meandering road trip with his dog than a musician's mad dash across the country. Instead of landing in a city, playing a show, then taking off the next day, Charlie spent a month getting to know the people and personality of each place she made her home. At the end of the year, Faye had a beautiful tapestry of songs she put together for her brand new album, Travels With Charlie.  Featuring members of Calexico, The Eagles, Lil' Band O' Gold, Navarro (Carole King's band from the 70s), Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris), Warren Storm, Dave Way (Michael Jackson), Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann), Brian MacLeod (Sheryl Crow, John Hiatt), Ian Moore (Jason Mraz), Kenny Vaughan (Lucinda Williams), Will Sexton, and Chris Scruggs, Travels With Charlie is AVAILABLE NOW.

Listen Up To Slaid Cleaves!

In 1991, when Slaid Cleaves moved from Portland, Maine to Austin, Texas, he landed mere blocks from the notoriously seedy Horseshoe Lounge.  Though, as he points out on his new live album, "It was many years of drivin' by before I worked up the courage to come in through the door." It didn't take long for curiosity to get the best of him and in 2000, Slaid memorialized the 46-year-old beer joint, releasing the popular "Horseshoe Lounge," on his breakout CD Broke Down

...Now, 20 years after his Southwest migration, Slaid Cleaves is releasing his very first live album - a double disc, no less - titled Sorrow & Smoke: Live at the Horseshoe LoungeSorrow & Smoke  fully conveys the spirit of an intimate yet jovial crowd  ...Clinking beer bottles.  Laughter.  Sing-alongs.  Good-natured heckling... and captures, quite perfectly, Slaid's incredible live show.

If you've never been to the Horseshoe Lounge or seen Slaid Cleaves perform, listen to Sorrow & Smoke and you'll get the picture.  Loud and clear.

Listen Up To HalleyAnna!
Singer-songwriter HalleyAnna grew up around many of the legends of Americana and folk music, deep in the heart of Texas.  HalleyAnna began playing music as a child alongside her brother and sister, looking up to female performers such as Emmylou Harris and June Carter. She got her start playing bars and coffeeshops around Austin at the ripe age of 12, and shortly after, began opening up for acts such as Todd Snider, Slaid Cleaves, and Hayes Carll.  Soon, she got a feel for playing honky-tonks and dancehalls, where her keen songwriter's eye collected the characters and stories she'd sing about down the road.

HalleyAnna’s first full-length album, The Country, produced by Corby Shaub (Ryan Bingham), is rich with honesty and emotion that is as refreshing as it is unique. The Country celebrates HalleyAnna's songwriting skills, as well as some of Americana's most talented musicians.  Featuring her band, The Tennessee Volunteers (HalleyAnna on vocals and guitar, her brother, Sterling Finlay on bass, Bryan Mammel on keys, Kullen Fuchs on lead guitar and trumpet, Jesse Ebaugh on steel guitar, and Dees Stribling on drums), The Country also features Corby Shaub on electric guitar and mandolin, Brady Black (Randy Rogers) on fiddle, and Ricky Ray Jackson (The Happen-Ins) on the steel guitar. Watch for it at the end of this summer.

"BettySoo has made a name for herself with calm stage presence, a powerful and versatile voice and deceptively relaxed rhythm guitar hand. Doug Cox can play the resophonic inside and out, but he plays it with such taste and control that the acoustic delivery of just two people, rhythm guitar, slide guitar, and voice was quite enough. Wow!" - JW McClure, Victory Music

Listen Up To Lauren Shera!
Music has played an integral part in Lauren Shera’s life from the very beginning. The New York native grew up surrounded by an eclectic range of performers. Kick Off The Summer With Matt The Electrician
At long last, Matt the Electrician's 10th album, Accidental Thief is IN STORES NOW! CLICK HERE to purchase today! ?To kick off the Summer season, CLICK HERE NOW to enjoy Matt The Electrician's video for "All I Know" - the undeniable feel-good hit of the Summer! Check out what Matt had to say about writing "All I Know":
"I was co-writing with Therese Aune from Norway, and her songs tend towards
the darker side of things, so I thought it would be fun to bring a snappy upbeat banjo-ukelele part to the table.  After she came to terms with that, we started working lyrically, and something came up about family road trips, which apparently they also do in Norway, although instead of driving to Disneyland, they drive to Spain.  So we wrote the verses together using imagery from our memories of those trips.  Then I suggested the chorus, remembering that feeling, when you're like 11 or 12, and you don't really want to be on the family vacation, but you're also still pretty young, and you see that cute girl at the miniature golf place, and you fall in love on the spot, and you'll never see her again, or know her name, but it doesn't matter...in fact, nothing else matters but that feeling at that moment."

Listen Up To Across The Borderline!
BettySoo and Doug Cox are proud to announce the debut release of their new duo project, Across the Borderline. Featuring ten stunning performances of songs penned by friends and mostly unsung heroes, Lie To Me showcases the guitar and vocal prowess of celebrated Austin, Texas songwriter BettySoo alongside the masterful playing of Vancouver Island's dobro master Doug Cox.

The album includes songs by Jane Siberry, Butch Hancock, Bob Carpenter, Blaze Foley, Betty Elders, and more, including the stirring title track written by Jeff Talmadge. Recorded live off the floor (often in one take) in the studio of Canadian folk legend David Essig, Lie To Me breathes and moves over the listener more like an intimate concert than a studio album. With two voices, a guitar and a dobro, Across the Borderline gathers different places and sounds: low and high, north and south, hope and heartbreak.

Matt The Electrician In Stores June 14
Matt the Electrician's highly anticipated new release, Accidental Thief, hits the shelves Tuesday, June 14th!

Until two years ago, Matt the Electrician had never tried co-writing.  In 2009, Matt joined forces with The House of Songs (a collaborative songwriting exchange between Denmark and Austin, TX) and spent much of the next year co-writing songs with Danish musicians. He was subsequently invited, in May of 2010, to be a part of The Nordic Co-Writers, a three day intensive co-writing workshop at a 16th century haunted castle in the Danish countryside.  The workshop brought together writers from Austin, Iceland, Norway, Denmark and The Faroe Islands in the name of collaborative creation.  Six of the twelve songs on his new CD, Accidental Thief, are co-writes; and five of those were written at Engelsholm Castle, in Denmark.  Continuing in the tradition of his last release, Animal Boy, the new CD was recorded at The Aerie Studio in Austin, TX in January of 2011, and co-produced by Matt and Mark Addison.

Check out the video for feel-good summer song, “All I Know” HERE.

Greezy Wheels Pick Up Speed
After an amazing start at Americana radio, the early reviews on Greezy Wheels' Gone Greezy are just now coming in.  Everybody is digging the new record.  The Wheels are so excited, they're shooting a multi-camera live performance video at Austin's legendary Saxon Pub on the afternoon of June 12th, and they are returning to the studio in June to record an EP follow-up to the new CD.  And, yes, rumors are in the wind about a return to the east coast and Levon's Midnight Ramble.  Stay tuned!

"In what I can only describe as Dan Hicks meets Frank Zappa, “Gone Greezy” captures the delightful musicality, the endearing sense of humor, and the beautiful spirit of these people and the wonderful music they make. I dare you to listen to any of the songs on this album and hold back a smile or keep your foot from tapping.  Superb record!" - Wildman Steve, Wildman Steve Internet Radio

"Right off the bat, Lissa Hattersley takes command with the opening track Don't Come Home When You're Mad At Me. With a 1920s jazz quality to her vocals and the authority of a 1970s punk rocker, the energy in her voice will leaving you thinking “whoa, I'm glad I'm not that guy!” With track 2, we switch gears and Cleve Hattersley takes over vocals. Whereas Lissa's voice has a certain jazz appeal, Cleve's vocals have a nice bluesy quality to them. And as the principal writer, Cleve has a great knack for writing catchy hooks and riffs. Overall, Gone Greezy contains a lot of hits....." - Rusty Hogan, Americana Roots

"Cleve Hattersley, the post-hippy child of beatniks, is the intellectual, writing clever, witty and sardonic lyrics, splitting the vocals with sister Lissa and ‘Greezette’ Penny Jo Pullus, and, in a fairly radical but effective departure, making them the center pieces of Americana-esque guitar and fiddle settings, the latter instrument, of course, played by the wonderful Sweet Mary..." - John Conquest, 3rd Coast Music

"We LOVE them....very special!" - WMUD, Burlington, VT

Sara Hickman - The Best of Times
This past year, Sara Hickman had the honor of being named the State Musician of Texas by the State Legislature (yes, she's like the Bluebonnet or the Horny Toad).

Sara has always been compassionate and eager to help her fellow musicians - pulling them from the shadows into the spotlight.  So naturally, Sara took this opportunity to do just that, creating the labor-of-love compilation, The Best of Times, that brought together numerous Texas artists and musicians - both known and unknown.  They all came together to be a part of this tapestry of beauty and art and music.

Soon after recording The Best of Times, Sara teamed up with the Theatre Action Project - a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing art, music and theatre to Central Texas public schools.  Their team of professionally trained artists and educators work in partnership with schools and communities to lead unique and engaging arts programs which allow young people to learn critical life skills, gain tools for creative expression and have successful experiences that build self-esteem and confidence.  In a selfless and generous move, Sara is giving 100% of the profits of the sales of The Best of Times to The Theatre Action Project, in the hopes that ALL central Texas schools have these opportunities.

Lisa Morales - In Her Own Words
Recently, Lisa sat down to give a behind-the-scenes look at the writing process and making of her new  record, Beautiful Mistake.  Here's a sneak peak:

I Am The Weakest
I wrote this to tell my husband something was wrong with our marriage.  Sat him down to read it to him.  His reaction was, “the married women are gonna love it!”
Fool I Am
Inherited my grandmother's baby grand piano after my Mother died.  I wrote this on it the night it was delivered!
Learn How to Pray
...I didn’t know what to do when we found out my Mom was dying.  It’s very helpless.  I grabbed a rosary and couldn’t for the life of me remember what to do.  It was kind of like--oh great, I haven’t been much of a Catholic and here I want something!
I Wanna Be In Love
I think you have to get to a point in your life where you know what you want and you say it ................out loud.

Listen Up to Rod Picott!
Rod Picott is back with a beautifully crafted new CD. Picott's 7th release, Welding Burns is a fully realized songwriting marvel with characters so vivid the songs play like intimate 3 minute noir movies.  Picott's ragged and soulful voice spins songs of loss, desire, rapture and work while pedal steel guitar winds elegantly throughout the album.  Welding Burns is an album about scars of the skin and scars of the heart.  Three songs, "Welding Burns," "Black T-Shirt," and "Rust Belt Fields" are co-written by Rod's longtime collaborator, Slaid Cleaves.  Welding Burns is destined to be among your favorite records of 2011!

"Rod Picott's world weary songs glow with both self awareness and humility. The truth of who we are is slippery, hard to contain, and most people have very little interest in it. Nonetheless, it is the work of an artist to find that truth and show it to us in ways that we'll see it. Welding Burns, Rod's new collection of songs, is a fine example of an artist doing just that. The songs on this record reflect the realities of the time we live in, and they contain hard truths. The songs are both beautiful and disturbing, and are the work of an artist who deserves to be heard. I hope he sells a million copies." - Mary Gauthier

"Beautiful and heartbreaking songs-one of the best on the Americana and folk scene" - Slaid Cleaves

>>BREAKING NEWS<< Kinky Friedman To Release Double Album Of All New Songs!
New CD To Promote Upcoming Seventy City ‘Springtime For Kinky 2011’ Tour

The Kinkster has finally done it - he’s written new songs, and not just two or three, but thirty!  And all his great friends, from Courtney Love to Bjork, have joined him on The Craft of the Songwriter, his first album of new songs since the seventies.
.....okay, we can’t even keep a straight face here - April Fool, y’all!  No, Kinky still hasn’t written a new song, not since the me decade.  Yes, he is touring this spring, but it’s a seventeen date tour of the midwest and east coast (‘Springtime For Kinky 2011’), and, yes, he is releasing an electronic single of "The Craft of the Songwriter," recorded live in Europe with Little Jewford.  Not exactly a new song - or even a song, for that matter - but hilarious (and tres Kinky), nonetheless.

A Winter Tale Receives Critical Acclaim
Since its release, Bobby Long’s highly anticipated debut record, A Winter Tale, remains on both Billboard’s Heatseekers and Folk charts (ATO Records). The album also continues to receive widespread critical acclaim, The Wall Street Journal describes it as, “a spirited, thoroughly enjoyable folk-blues collection featuring his gritty singing and well-crafted songs,” while the Los Angeles Times asserts, “…a sound that’s redolent of many classic folk recordings as well as contemporaries like Damien Rice and Mumford & Sons.” Long’s recent appearance at the 2011 SXSW Music Festival & Conference garnered even more critical attention—NPR Music’s Ann Powers reflects, “…the young folk singer Bobby Long, who spat out his songs as his hair flopped meaningfully in his face at a Friday night basement club gig, are lighting new fires under old clichés.”  Long is currently in the midst of a nationwide tour in support of the record, including dates with Brett Dennen as well as part of the 2011 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and the Dave Matthews Band Caravan in Atlantic City.  CLICK HERE for a show near you!

The Coal Porters Plan California Tour in May
Musician/writer/author/broadcaster Sid Griffin rose to fame in Los Angeles as leader of Island Recording Artists, The Long Ryders - one of the first bands of the alt-rock era to incorporate the influences of Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Byrds. This spring, the Coal Porters will return to the scene of the crime — Los Angeles and the West Coast — where they will play three shows in the L.A. area, one in San Francisco and a coveted spot at the Stagecoach Festival on Sunday, May 1.

Listen Up to Greezy Wheels!
Greezy Wheels.  Legend.  Three words that play together quite nicely, for Greezy Wheels truly is a legend, and their latest CD may well prove it, once and for all.  In their first return to their guitar and fiddle based roots since their early Armadillo-era recordings for London Records, Gone Greezy delivers on the legend and promise of what was once called “progressive country” - the genre that spawned the likes of Willie and Waylon and Outlaw and Redneck Rock.  The genre now called Americana.  The quirky, yet somehow familiar songs, the dynamic vocals, the extraordinary slide and fiddle work - all speak to Ozarkian beginnings, mountain lilts and a greezy lifestyle.  Gone Greezy is the very essence of Americana.  Lifestyle is the very essence of Greezy Wheels.  Greezy Wheels are the stuff of which legends are made.

Blaze Foley's 113th Wet Dream
Gurf Morlix's latest release, Blaze Foley's 113th Wet Dream, is setting the world on fire! It's already reached #5 on the Americana Music Chart, and is achieves praise and acclaim all around the globe!

Gurf Morlix, as a producer, musician and singer, has always had that magic touch that allows him to put his unique stamp on every project he takes on to create a one of a kind stand-out record. This ability has launched the careers of Lucinda Williams, Mary Gauthier, Slaid Cleaves, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and many more...

An Americana legend before there was Americana, Blaze Foley and his extraordinary songs inspired the soon-to-be superstars of our genre. Blaze's songs have been covered by Merle Haggard, John Prine, Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt, and now, for the first time - our very own Gurf Morlix.

Blaze Foley was a handful (to say the least), a bull in a china cabinet, an absolute life force all his own. He could go from being boisterous and loud to tender and sensitive in a heartbeat. Always one to push the line, his friends were few and far between, but those folks who could see past his rough exterior loved him unconditionally. Gurf Morlix was one of those friends.

Of course, knowing Blaze as he did, when Gurf got the call about his murder, he wasn't really surprised. But he was (and has been ever since) heartbroken. Perhaps it was Blaze who inspired that unmistakable "Gurf" sound - that haunting empty sadness that Gurf adds so beautifully to every record he's ever been a part of.

Blaze Foley's 113th Wet Dream is a labor of love that Gurf has always wanted to make. Years in the making, this record may be how Gurf is remembered for years to come. He used his magic touch, heart and soul, to create possibly the masterpiece of his career.

Listen Up To Bobby Long!
British singer-songwriter-guitarist Bobby Long’s highly anticipated debut is in stores TODAY, February 1, 2011. A Winter Tale, produced by Grammy-winner Liam Watson (White Stripes), is a collection of 11 original songs from a repertoire deeply rooted in American folk, blues and country music. Long, who moved to London from Wiltshire in the southwest of England to attend college, became part of the burgeoning open mic circuit to expose his music. He met actor and fellow musician Robert Pattinson, who would go on to sing “Let Me Sign” (co-written by Long and friend Marcus Foster) over a crucial dramatic scene in the blockbuster film Twilight. The inclusion of the song in the film’s soundtrack gave Long a head start on a loyal legion of fans. Although A Winter Tale is the 24-year-old’s first foray into the formal recording process, “Left to Lie,” his first single from the Dirty Pond Songs collection, reached #1 on the iTunes “Unsigned” chart and #8 on the Folk chart. Pollstar wrote: “Long’s emergence as an up-and-coming artist is the stuff Hollywood loves to make movies about. He continues to amaze audiences with a bare-bones sound reminiscent of early Bob Dylan.” About.com pegs A Winter Tale as one of the folk and Americana albums to watch for in 2011, "English singer-songwriter Bobby Long follows the long tradition of the contemporary folk singer-songwriter, easily drawing comparisons to folks like Jackson Browne and Cat Stevens." Gurf Morlix, as a producer, musician and singer, has always had that magic touch that allows him to put his unique stamp on every project he takes on to create a one of a kind stand-out record. This ability has launched the careers of Lucinda Williams, Mary Gauthier, Slaid Cleaves, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and many more...Blaze Foley's 113th Wet Dream is a labor of love that Gurf has always wanted to make. Years in the making, Gurf used his magic touch, heart and soul, to create possibly the masterpiece of his career. Gurf knows that Blaze's honest, heartfelt words will resonate with today's audience. Blaze Foley's 113th Wet Dream is already #5 on the Americana Music Chart and #1 on the FAR Report! Blaze is finally having the career he wanted.

“Morlix's low gravelly laid-back growl is the perfect voice to interpret Blaze....late night listening for fans of Townes (Van Zandt)/Jon Dee Graham." - NoDepression.com

“Once you hear these songs so lovingly performed by Gurf Morlix in his inimitable way you'll know why Blaze Foley was considered a genius. This is one of the most poignant discs to cross this desk this year, and it is about time this artist got his due.” - AcousticMusic.com

Listen Up To Gurf Morlix!
Master instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Gurf Morlix has been a major thread in the fabric of American roots music for over 20 years. But before he became a recognized name on the scene for his work with such folks as Lucinda, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves, Buddy and Julie Miller, and Mary Gauthier, Gurf hung, played and performed with the Austin-based songwriter Blaze Foley.

On February 1, 2011, Gurf is releasing a 15 song collection of Blaze's songs, called Blaze Foley's 113th Wet Dream. The cd will be released in conjunction with the documentary, Blaze Foley: Duct Tape Messiah, which has been 12 years in the making. Following the release, Gurf will be touring throughout North America together with the documentary screenings.

Blaze, a colorful, but flawed character, was murdered in 1989 at the age of 39. Recording an album of Blaze's music is something Gurf's been wanting to do for more than 20 years. Now is the time. Gurf knows that Blaze's honest, heartfelt words will resonate with today's audience. Blaze is finally having the career he wanted.

Listen Up To Lisa Morales!
After building a strong reputation with sister Roberta as Sisters Morales, Lisa Morales steps out on her own with an album of stirring and emotional self-penned songs, Beautiful Mistake.

In the three years since the last Sisters Morales record (Talking to the River - produced by Los Lobos' Steve Berlin), their mother, Gloria, died after a difficult struggle with cancer. It was Gloria’s fight for her life that made Lisa re-examine her own. Beautiful Mistake finds her doing just that. Her writing on this album is unquestionably her best to date.

Morales teamed up with longtime friend and bassist, Michael “Cornbread” Traylor to produce this gem, and together, they gathered a great cast of talented and soulful musicians (including Walt Wilkins and Dustin Welch) to pull out some of Morales’ best performances.

BettySoo's New Adventure - Across The Borderline
BettySoo has teamed up with Doug Cox to create the brand new band, Across the Borderline. Together, they hope to build up the songs and stories of their unsung heroes.

An unlikely pair (one hails from the cadre of songwriters living in Austin, Texas, the other from the paradisical reaches of Vancouver Island, British Columbia) their friendship and musical respect were immediate, as they found countless familiar threads in the people and music they admired.

“The touring and recording BettySoo and I plan to do is based on all the stories and songs we have each collected over years of being surrounded by great characters.” says Cox, “Lots of these songs are in danger of disappearing if they don't keep being sung. Keeping these songs alive is what we intend to do with Across The Borderline.”

They plan to record their debut album this month. With two voices, a guitar and a Dobro, Across the Borderline gathers different places and sounds: low and high, north and south, hope and heartbreak.

Bobby Long Coming Soon - Americana Album to Watch for in 2011
British singer-songwriter-guitarist Bobby Long’s highly anticipated debut is set for release February 1, 2011. A Winter Tale, produced by Grammy-winner Liam Watson (White Stripes) is a collection of 11 original songs from a repertoire deeply rooted in American folk, blues and country music. He continues to amaze audiences with a bare-bones sound reminiscent of early Bob Dylan.” About.com pegs A Winter Tale as one of the folk and Americana albums to watch for in 2011, "English singer-songwriter Bobby Long follows the long tradition of the contemporary folk singer-songwriter, easily drawing comparisons to folks like Jackson Browne and Cat Stevens."
