What A Year For Terri Hendrix
Terri Hendrix's latest release, The Spiritual Kind, has sold over 10,000 copies since August (mainly through her online store)! During her recent West Coast tour, she performed to sold-out and packed houses, and her fan base keeps growing everyday. But what she is mostly proud of this year is her new harmonica rack with its firm grip that keeps the harp from slipping. That's good news for those of us who sit on the front row at her shows! She will begin taping a new DVD (which will feature performances all over the country) in February 2008. Stay tuned for more info!

Texas Music Times Rave Review of Wild Eyed Serenade
CLICK HERE to check out this steller review.
"Jason Eady's latest release, Wild Eyed Serenade, is a breath of fresh air in the somewhat stale atmosphere of my usual musical fare, Texas Country music. I really liked Eady's first project, From Underneath the Old, so I was confident that he would deliver a solid record this time, too. I was expecting more of the same when I popped Serenade into my CD player, but, much to my delight, my ears were greeted not with country music, but, rather, with a solid dose of good ol' Americana."

Sam Baker's Pretty World
It's really hard this week, the week of September 11th, to find hope or beauty anywhere... in the news or on the streets, or in the world. But if you're looking for it, you can certainly find it in Sam Baker's Pretty World. Back in 1986, Baker was traveling in a train through Peru, when the car he was in was blown apart by a terrorist bomb, killing fellow passengers and leaving him clinging to life. Deafened and gravely injured, Baker spent the better part of the next decade working on both a physical and spiritual recovery. It was through storytelling and the art of songwriting that Baker turned to make sense of a sometimes senseless world. After I first learned this, I listened again to the beautiful lyrics of Pretty World... and gained a whole new understanding of the hope and the sadness...and the beauty... that resonates in every song. Sam is such a wonderful spirit, and I hope you have a chance to spend some time with his record this week. CLICK HERE to purchase your copy today.

Listen Up To Terri Hendrix!
Award-winning singer/songwriter Terri Hendrix is set to mark the 10th anniversary of her homegrown Wilory Records label with the Aug. 7 release of her new album, The Spiritual Kind. The Spiritual Kind, Hendrix's ninth album, is a brilliant tapestry of songs for the soul. There is something on it for everyone. Like all of her records (including the stellar Places in Between (2000), The Ring (2002) and The Art of Removing Wallpaper (2004)), it was recorded without concern for being too loud for folk, too pop for country, too country for jazz, or too this or too that for any other genre. Hendrix considers The Spiritual Kind a tip of the hat to those folks that have been with her on her journey so far, and to all those she's yet to meet on the road ahead. Where that road will ultimately lead is anyone's guess. But in Terri's opinion, thanks to the "spiritual kind," it continues to be one great boogie ride! Walt Wilkins' amazing songwriting, hard-edged vocals and heartfelt guitar pickin' have made him a fixture of the Texas music scene. He's put his magical touch on recordings by new and veteran artists, too many to count. With his new band, Mystiqueros, he's created something of a "Texas Hill Country super group" that features five singers and four songwriters from the heart of the Lone Star State, all of whom have made their own records and are flush with recording credits: Wilkins is joined by Bill Small (bass, percussion, acoustic guitar), John M. Greenberg (electric guitars), Ramon Rodriguez (drums, percussion) and Marcus Eldridge (electric guitars). Together, their magical and unforgettable live performances are captured on Diamonds In The Sun, due for release on Tex-centric Palo Duro Records in July 2007.CLICK HERE to pre-order Diamonds In The Sun.

Jed and Kelley's Rave Reviews
"Male-female duos have a long, illustrious history in country music -- George and Tammy, Porter and Dolly, Johnny and June, Conway and Loretta, George and Melba. But the Memphis-based duo of Jed Zimmerman and Kelley Mickwee give the format a nice Americana updating with a laid-back, bluegrassy album that's as fun to listen to as a beer is to drink. 4 STARS" - Mark Jordan, The Commercial Appeal
"I think they're right up there in the league of Buddy and Julie Miller, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris or Robin & Linda Williams." Robert K Oermann

The Derailer's Brian Hofeldt Survives Crash
The Derailers' Brian Hofeldt is safe after being struck by a drunk driver on his return home from a Dallas show to spend Mother's Day with his family. The drunk driver unexpectedly swerved into Brian's lane and sent his car off a 15-foot low-water crossing bridge, resulting in a 30' airborne flight before the vehicle tumbled several times to a stop. Brian was less than three miles from his house when the accident occurred. "I'm more somber about the incident now after waking up today, but still feel extremely lucky! The car is of course totaled, but unbelievably I survived. The paramedics told me to go out and buy a lottery ticket because I was the luckiest man alive that day."
Stay tuned for The Derailers' upcoming release, Under The Influence of Buck (August).
Bedunah Buzz
Check out this stellar feature in the San Antonio Express feature on Steve Bedunah HERE
"He gives us good singing, musicianship, and — most importantly, to my reckoning — good storytelling. It's far from a cheerful CD but its even further from depressing. It's more like real life drama as it is when the undeniable dark is met with grace, maturity, and a hardy heart."— Tim Schuller / Buddy Magazine

Listen Up To Jed And Kelley
Hailing from Memphis, TN, Jed and Kelley are among the class of such dynamic duos as Gram and Emmylou, George and Tammy and June and Johnny. Jed writes songs of home and family with an eye for detail reminiscent of Townes, Kristofferson, and Rodney Crowell. Simple and straight ahead, the songs get across without gimmicks. Kelley, with her clear and soulful voice, cuts to the heart of the song. Together, they deliver something real and timeless.
Their sophomore release, Songs To Take Home, produced by the great Keith Sykes, showcases their emerging talent for beautiful harmony vocals and engaging and gentle Americana music.
I guarantee, it will only take one listen for you to add this record to the top of your list of favorites. CLICK HERE to purchase.

"The Bootlegger's Daughter is an inviting listen; warm rustic tones and beautifully crafted songs. If I had a front porch I'd sit out on it and listen to this disc all the time." - Drew Dundon, KMTT
"The challenge is finding only one outstanding area to highlight. Rachel Harrington's bittersweet and mournful voice, her melancholy story telling, the exemplary musicianship courtesy of some of the finest players, and terrific song production are all competing for top billing in the 'Oh, I like that part the best!' contest. This full-length debut is a terrific, intimate folk/bluegrass record." - Jeff Weiss, Miles of Music

Bedunah Buzz
Check out what folks are saying about Steve Bedunah's Plug It In and Play :
"Bedunah's knack for wry lyrics suits the grit in his limited vocals, and it's clear that the eye he casts the modern world is as acerbic as his tongue." - Margaret Mose, Austin Chronicle
"Singer-songwriter-guitarist Steve Bedunah builds his songs with pieces of the blues, Americana and country/western and delivers them with deep meaning vocals covered by some fine playing from bandmates Erik Herbst on guitar, organist Tommy Young, Milo Deering on pedal steel, mandolin, fiddle & lap steel, Rocky Gribble on banjo, bassist David DeShazo and drummer Jerry Saracini. Clean, genuine and steeped in country tradition, Bedunah offers up some excellent songs that include the album's rockin' title track "Plug It In and Play," the jangly snarl of "Down The Drain," the big sky ballad "Reunion" and the ingeniously penned "Down To This River." -Douglas Sloan / Metronome
"The twangin’ title tune to Bedunah’s latest is meant as an inspirational musician’s celebration. But his dusty, world-weary voice makes it sound haunted, dark and desperate. I dig that." - Robert K. Oermann, Music Row

Gurf Morlix's Diamonds To Dust - Here at Last!
After his foray into old school country with 2004's Cut 'N Shoot, Gurf Morlix explores a darker, more rock-oriented vibe with Diamonds to Dust. Diamonds to Dust was recorded after a year in which Morlix lost several people close to him, and the theme of death and dying surfaces in several tracks. However, Morlix's trademark dark humor tempers the sadness and makes Diamonds to Dust a unique listening experience. Preview HERE. Steve Bedunah Buzz
Check out what folks are saying about Steve Bedunah's Plug It In And Play:
"With well crafted tunes, Bedunah's effective monotone vocals, and fine musicianship highlighted by Milo Steering on mandolin, steel and fiddle, this is an impressive effort." -Robert Wooldridge, Country Standard Time
"When it comes to narrative-focused country songwriters, few regions can match up to the Lone Star State. Add Steve Bedunah to the list of talented Texans with the ability to spin rugged and robust stories with almost literary flair. Plug It In and Play, his second album, details the desperate and down-and-out, the out of touch and out of time, the proud and the not yet defeated." - Andy Turner / No Depression
"As we all know, everything is BIG in Texas. Why wouldn't you expect the best in Roots-Country to be a big success? Steve Bedunah is receiving a lot of positive attention, and it is little wonder. His graven voice seems to shoulder the burden of the world. His songs are musical literature--he is a great storyteller and uses this ability to make his twangy Country downright infectious. This album and Steve have a lot to offer, whether it be foot stomping bluegrass or inspirational Traditional Country, or the Whiskey Blues." -John Shelton Ivany's Top 21

Listen Up To Steve Bedunah!
Steve Bedunah was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and grew up on its western edge overlooking the Trinity Valley to the grasslands of the West. Bedunah is a lot like the Texas he writers about. Bedunah’s songs create a tension between a dark, overwhelming world and the sometimes fiery but always individualistic characters who seek to gain some margin of hope. Plug It In And Play has a foreboding atmosphere that is balanced by its high energy and Bedunah’s superb use of imagery and metaphoric language, raising his songs to poetic heights.
